Families are the foundation of a child’s wellbeing, providing the love, stability, and guidance that enable them to thrive. When families are strong and supported, children are safer, healthier, and more connected to their communities.
This research by the Parenting Research Centre underscores the design principles needed for system reform, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time to prevent unnecessary statutory intervention and create better futures. They provide a data-driven analysis of Queensland’s family support services and identify key drivers of statutory involvement and evaluate evidence-based best practices for early intervention and system reform.
Early, targeted, and culturally appropriate interventions are evidenced in this research as catalysts in reducing statutory system involvement and improve long-term outcomes for children and families.
