Children and families

All children and families have the right to be involved in decisions that affect their lives. Children and young people play an important role in shaping Queensland’s future, and better outcomes are achieved when they and the people close to them—parents, carers, siblings, and extended family—are part of the decisionmaking process. Every family deserves to be heard, and we place strong emphasis on understanding the experience of parenting.

One of the greatest opportunities that we have is to hear directly from young Queenslanders, and to use what we hear to advocate for change. When we take time to listen to what young people have to say, the opportunities and potential are boundless.
