The next few weeks at training Eddie is still moody and tired. You also notice new bruises.

Then one afternoon Eddie doesn’t turn up. When you ask his friends if they know anything, they say that he’s moved to New South Wales with his mum and stepdad. Months later you read in the newspaper that a young boy and his mother have been seriously injured by the father in a brutal domestic violence attack.

The newspaper notice makes you wonder about Eddie and whether you could have done things differently at the time.
