Understanding our workforce

In order to strengthen the child and family support workforce, first we need to understand it, so we can use data to guide and inform future planning and investment decisions.

The QFCC partnered with the Health and Community Services Workforce Council to develop the Your workforce, your future: 2016 survey report (PDF, 1.42MB), which aimed to build a better understanding of the child and family support workforce in Queensland.

The Your workforce, your future infographic (PDF, 86KB) provides key highlights from the report, including:

  • a young (72% under 50 years), female (73%) workforce
  • a sector of small organisations (median workforce size 24)
  • a qualified workforce (68% of organisations set minimum employment qualifications).

The survey report was developed from 86 responses to a survey tool, capturing quantitative and qualitative workforce data from government and non-government organisations.

Results helped inform the Strengthening our sector strategy 2016-19 (PDF, 288KB) and key findings have assisted in the development of a shared Career and capability framework – a tool aimed at improving how the sector attracts, retains and develops its workforce.
