Report of the Family Violence Reform Implementation Monitor as at 1 November 2017

This report from the Victorian Family Violence Implementation Monitor sets out the government's progress in putting into effect their family violence implementation plan covering the period from 1 January 2017 to 1 November 2017. The Monitor notes that ending family violence and improving outcomes for victim survivors are now clearly established as core objectives of the Victorian government. In relation to the implementation of the reforms, the Monitor found early indications suggested that major implementation risks need to be addressed, requiring more planning to ensure the long term effectiveness of the reform and provide the best outcomes for survivors of family violence. The Monitor has found that given the complexity of the task, the significant risks around a lot of the reforms and the scale of resources required, the Victorian government needs to spend more time in planning and coordinating its whole family violence reform package.
