Raising awareness and finding new opportunities

Part of our role is to raise awareness about the pressures faced by families, what causes them and the benefits of seeking support. We also aim to demystify the child protection system and reform programs to inform the public about what is being done to improve the system.

Our campaigns are research-based, giving us a better understanding of families and how to help them access the right services at the right time.

Our campaigns focus on things like:

  • early intervention programs
  • help-seeking and help-giving behaviour
  • community education and awareness.

All families have ups and downs and it can really help to get tips and advice from experts and people who have been through similar experiences.

We encourage parents to seek help and support when they need it and also encourage other people (for example the community, family friends or relatives) to offer help. This could be something as simple as helping out at home or having a chat about how things are going.

We want families to know that it’s ok to ask for help – this can make our families stronger.

We’re also building on the community’s knowledge of the child protection system, so they understand that keeping children safe is a shared responsibility.

After all, they say it takes a village to raise a child and that includes all Queenslanders.
