A positive sense of identity and culture: Defining and measuring progress for children and young people in Australia: A literature and scoping review on developing better indicators

This report reviewed existing research on children's identity and culture, how it is currently measured and presents a conceptual framework that  provides a foundation for the development of indicators and measures. For children and young people from minority groups, identifying with, and being engaged with their culture has  positive outcomes, including better academic and psychosocial outcomes, and a lower risk of anti-social behaviour, such as the underage alcohol  consumption. The report also sets out a framework comprising identity markers, processes of transmission and consumption, the environment that allows the processes to occur, and the outcomes for children, which serves as the basis for indicators of children's positive sense of  identity and culture.
