What do Youth Champions do? 
  • attend meetings in our Brisbane office once a month
  • provide feedback and ideas on a range of topics which affect young Queenslanders
  • work with the staff of the Commission on different projects
  • participate in social media activities.
Youth Champions have the opportunity to meet decision-makers and develop skills which are valued by employers. Our current Youth Champions have been invited to:
  • attend events as guests of the QFCC
  • film social media posts and conduct social media takeovers
  • participate in high profile meetings and events
  • facilitate conversations with young people on a range of different subjects
  • be presenters and panel members
  • be interviewed on radio and television.

Who can apply?
 
If you are aged 13-25 years and live in South-East Queensland, you are eligible to apply.

If you are aged under 18 years, you must have your parent’s or guardian’s consent to apply.

How many people are we looking for?
 
We are looking for at least 10 people to expand our current Council.
What do I need to do to apply?
 

  1. Tell us in writing (maximum 500 words), audio or video (maximum 2 minutes), about:

  • The youth issue(s) you are passionate about and what have you done to make a difference, whether it is big (community/school/class level) or small (with your friends/family)
  • Why you should be a member of the Youth Advisory Council and what you would gain from the experience
  • How you currently connect with other young people (and/or organisations that support young people) to discover their thoughts or to spread information

  2.  Complete the application form and upload your submission by 5 May, 2019.

What happens next?
 
A panel will look at all applications and create a shortlist. Those shortlisted may be invited to talk with us further, either in person or via Skype.
Everyone who applies will find out our decision by 30 July 2019.
