Occasional Paper 6: Quality rating reassessments: An analysis of quality improvement in education and care services 2013-2017

This paper examines trends in quality improvement from the perspective of services rated under the Working Towards National Quality Standard. A service was considered to have improved its quality at reassessment where it: received a higher overall quality rating, received a higher rating in a quality area and meets a higher number of elements of quality. Analysis suggested that the primary drivers of quality improvement included the recruitment and retention of highly trained educators who have a good understanding of the Working Towards National Quality Standard and were delivering education and care under the direction of high quality service leadership.
