If you believe your child is in immediate danger or a life-threatening situation, call emergency services on triple zero – 000.
Under our legislation, we don’t investigate individual children’s and families’ circumstances. If you suspect a child in Queensland is experiencing harm or neglect, please contact the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.

As part of our work to improve the child and family support system, we are responsible for:

  • identifying areas of research and making research findings more accessible to help inform policy and practice
  • providing leadership and expert advice about laws, polices, practices and services
  • advocating for the safety and wellbeing of children across Queensland.

Research is an important part of the work we do. We produce regular research scans and summaries, which are published on this website.

We work with government and non-government organisations to make recommendations about laws, policies, practices and services concerning the wellbeing of Queensland children and young people.
