Specialist homelessness services annual report 2016–17

This report from the AIHW describes the characteristics of clients of specialist homelessness services, the services requested, outcomes achieved, and unmet requests for services during 2016–17. Key findings for children and young people who were on a care and protection order (CPO) included there were 8,680 clients on a CPO in 2016-17, with 58% aged between 0-9 years, over half were living with a sole parent when the sought assistance, 35% were Indigenous, 52% had received homelessness services at least once prior to 2016-17. The most common reason for seeking assistance was domestic and family violence (30%) followed by a housing crisis (19%).
