Majority of autism risk resides in genes, multinational study suggests

This research examined the heritability of autism risk by analysing data from five countries. It found that 81 percent of autism risk comes from inherited genetic factors. These findings were similar to the results from two previous Swedish studies. The research also found that 18.1 percent of autism risk arises from environmental factors that are not shared among family members.
