Closing the Gap targets: 2017 analysis of progress and key drivers of change
This report from the AIHW provides detailed information and analyses on the seven Closing the Gap targets, including the key drivers of change underpinning each of these targets. According to the report, Australia is currently on track to close the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and non-Indigenous Australians on child mortality, early childhood education and Year 12 attainment. Improvements have also been noted in literacy and numeracy while there is only a minimal improvement in life expectancy and employment rates have actually worsened. There are a range of key drivers of change which vary across the seven targets and these are set out in the report.
