Family law for the future — An Inquiry into the Family Law System: Final report

This report from the Australian Law Reform Commission details the findings of its inquiry into the family law system. The Commission made 60 recommendations to address the problems it identified during the Inquiry. Recommendations focused on closing the jurisdictional gap between the Commonwealth and state and territory governments, an enhanced focus on the best interests of the child;  a simplified approach to property division; encouraging amicable resolution; addressing matters for arbitration; improving the efficiency and accountability of case management; compliance with children's orders; building accountability and transparency; legislative clarity; and improvements to secondary interventions.
