Changing the picture: A national resource to support the prevention of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children

This resource contains a set of clear actions intended to encourage, guide and support a national effort by many organisations and stakeholders to address the many drivers of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children. After discussing the extent, drivers, and myths about violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children, the authors provide three key actions to prevent the violence. Action 1 involves addressing the legacies and ongoing impacts of colonisation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities. Action 2 is to address the legacies and ongoing impacts of colonisation for non-Indigenous people, and across Australian society. Lastly, Action 3 involves addressing the gendered drivers of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
